With Halloween right around the corner, I’m dreading the carving of pumpkins! As much as I love to carve a pumpkin, it’s messy and time-consuming! Every year the girls want to cover our front steps with carved pumpkins and if they came pre-carved I would be all for it! There are all sorts of decorative alternatives such as stickers and the like, however, at the end, you are still stuck with a pumpkin rotting on your front steps. This very simple DIY is a great compromise to still have spooky decor but without all the carving!
You will need:
- Variety of clean glass jars, I suggest a few different sizes
- Krylon Frosted Glass Finish
- Black Paint
- Flickering Flameless Tea lights (I got mine at the dollar store)
- Spider Webs and Spiders (again from the dollar store)
Step 1: Use the Krylon Frosted Glass Finish to coat the outside of the jars so that they appear frosted. Let it dry!
Step 2: Paint the lids to the cans black. I ended up painting one black and then using chalkboard paint on the other. Set aside to dry.
Step 3: Once everything is all dry, turn your candle on and place in the bottom of the jar. Take your Spider webs with spiders and place them in the jar so that the spiders touch the edges of the jar.
Step 4: Turn off the lights and enjoy!
Place your easy spooky glass jar on your front step or in the window or like me on the table to torture my littlest. Zoe is just getting her footing on this idea of Halloween which has made for some fun shopping trips. I’m really excited for Halloween this year and especially now that I won’t have an abundance of pumpkins on my front steps.
