This Vancouver Island Accommodation post is written in partnership with Tourism Cowichan and Hummingbird Haven B&B. All opinions expressed are 100% my own!
As a young girl living in Saskatchewan trips to Vancouver Island to visit my grandparents are some of my fondest memories! We’d turn off the Trans Canada 1 highway and explore the old highway 1A. Chemainus was always one of my favourite stops, known for being the home to so many amazing artists. Hummingbird Haven B&B is one of those Vancouver Island Accomodations that has it all!
On a recent trip to Vancouver Island with my bestest Katherine from Our Happy Place Blog, we had the honor of getting to know Brad & Peggy and feeling their passion for the arts and sustainable living first hand! Be sure to head over to her website to read all the amazing things she has to say about our stop at Hummingbird Haven B&B
This B&B is beautifully tucked away just off the beaten path and affords one incredible experience. One of the things I love most about getting to meet new people is being able to experience their love for what they do and dance with their passion for their industry in conversation.
Upon arrival, we were captivated by the beautifully landscaped yard that boasts some of Peggy’s pottery tucked away complimenting their surroundings perfectly! It is clear that Peggy has a bit of a green thumb with some remarkable plants including one of the largest Rosemary shrubs I’ve ever seen.
After learning about the amazing journey that brought Brad and Peggy over to the Island and the lengths they went to create a place suited for two artists and their unique needs. It doesn’t stop there, we learned of their passion for sustainable living.
Hummingbird Haven B&B is a ‘planet friendly’ environment with homemade plant-based breakfast, natural fiber sheets, locally roasted fair-trade coffee and 100% composting directly on the property.
I cannot even begin to describe how amazing that breakfast was and honestly, the pictures don’t do it enough justice. However, as someone who has only begun their journey into cleaning up their eating, this plant-based breakfast will leave you wanting more!
What else makes Hummingbird Haven B&B the top Vancouver Island Accommodation?
The list is long, and it’s very not easy to sum it up but if I had to, these features really stand out to me! Hummingbirds year-round, we even had breakfast with them, a shaded deck by the fish pond with a soothing waterfall and miniature fountain and not only hummingbirds but there is plenty of wildlife in the area for your viewing pleasures.
But what about the accommodations? Brad and Peggy put a great amount of consideration into creating a space that is welcoming and feels just like home. With a King-size Endy mattress, natural fiber sheets and blankets and towels you’ll never want to leave.
But it doesn’t stop there, this Vancouver Island Accommodation offers your own private entrance and door code, mini-fridge, high-speed internet, and bedside USB Charging ports, Brad and Peggy really stopped at nothing to create a beautiful space that embodies their love and passion for all things planet-friendly and modern!
