West Coast Yogurt Parfait

West Coast Yogurt Parfait

Growing up in the prairies, the Okanagan peaches were a rare treat. You almost never found them in stores, which meant you had to wait for the fruit trucks to come in. There was always something about the west coast that captivated me. I think it started with the excitement that summer brought knowing that Okanagan peaches and west coast parfaits are right around the corner. I knew 10 years ago that I was going to fall in love with this province. Goodness I was right!

From mountain to ccean all in one in day, there isn’t much about the West Coast that isn’t appealing. Their is a long list of incredible qualities that this province has to offer.  With fresh grown local fruits and veggies year-round, to picturesque hikes right in our own backyards, to some of the most finest and inspiring individuals who embody everything it means to truly be West Coast.

To have that West Coast Spirit is to be determined, to have an unbeatable drive followed by the ability to slow down and take it all in. West Coast Spirit is creativity and above all, courage to pick yourself up and become the best you that can possibly be. I learn this spirit everyday from a dear friend and business Owner Desja Walker of Haven Living located in Port Alberni. After many years, she picked herself up from a situation that needed to be changed. She uprooted her children from their home in the lower mainland, moved to Port Alberni. Desja created a beautiful and successful retail space and launched both herself and her business into success.

Much like Olympic has done with its new look and inspiring packaging. Desja created aWest Coast Yogurt Parfait new space for her business, herself and her family. With sheer determination, a little fear and a strong desire to be better. Living each day with inspiring people and good healthy local food means that I too am encouraged everyday to live the West Coast Spirit!

When shopping for our ingredients to make our Peaches and Cream Granola Yogurt Parfait, the new look of the Olympic packaging is initially what caught my eye. The M being a mountain and clean and crisp colouring reminded me of that west coast feel. Just like many other moms, using ingredients that are from close to home is important to my family and to me. Did you know that Olympic products are made right here in Delta BC?  It’s also made with 100% natural ingredients and fresh milk from cows that live close to their dairies. You can browse all of their products on their website.

There is no fruit that says BC better than Okanagan peaches. From cookies and pies to squares, there isn’t much you cannot do with peaches.  Once you add Olympic Organic Yogurt to my favourite BC fruit, you get the perfect west coast parfait. I love how not only is Olympic local but also it contains no gelatin, no gluten and no preservatives, which is a win-win for everyone.

This West Coast Yogurt Parfait is hands down the dreamiest, creamiest breakfast treat. Guaranteed to get your day started in true west coast style!

Layer the yogurt, granola, peaches and top with sweet cream. Our sweet cream recipe is as simple as they come. Simply combine ½ c sweetened condensed milk with 1 c light cream, and finally stir in 1 tsp. of vanilla extract. Pour this on top of the peaches and then repeat layers as you wish!
